2025 Full Moon — In 2025 there will be 12 full moons. The year will have two lunar eclipses and three full supermoons.

Illustration of the moon phase for the dates of the full moons in 2025

All dates and times are in United States Eastern Time for cities such as New York, adjusted for Daylight Savings Time for part of the year.

The four primary lunar phases are the new moon, the first quarter, the full moon, and the last quarter. The lunar month lasts approximately a month or 29.53 days on average, also called a synodic month.

A new moon is the first lunar phase. The moon itself is not visible, though you may be able to “see” it because it blocks the visibility of the stars behind it. A full moon occurs when the Earth is directly between the Sun and the Moon, allowing the moon to appear illuminated entirely.

The first quarter moon occurs between the new moon and the full moon, and the last quarter moon occurs after the full moon and before the next new moon.

The dates and times of the full moons in 2025 are:

No, there will not be a blue moon in 2025. Each month will have one full moon, and each season will have three full moons.

The second definition relates to having an extra full moon on the calendar during a season. When a season has four full moons, the third full moon of the season is also called a blue moon or a seasonal blue moon.

Blood Moons

There will be two blood moons in 2025 on March 14 and September 7. The total lunar eclipses will occur during the Worm Moon in March and the Corn Moon in September.
