February 25: Super Snow Moon

The full moon on Friday, February 25, was called the Super Snow Moon. It was both the February Full Moon and a Supermoon. Other names for the February 1994 Full Moon include the Hunger Moon, Chaste Moon, and Storm Moon. The February Full Moon was Winter’s last full moon and the Full Moon in Virgo.

March 27: Super Worm Moon

On Sunday, March 27, the full moon was called the Super Worm Moon, which was both the March Full Moon and a Supermoon in 1994. Other names for the March 1994 Full Moon include the Sap Moon, Crow Moon, Chaste Moon, Sugar Moon, and Lenten Moon. The March Full Moon was the first full moon of Spring and the Full Moon in Libra.

April 25: Super Pink Moon

On Monday, April 25, the full moon was called the Super Pink Moon, which was both the April Full Moon and a Supermoon in 1994. Other names for the April 1994 Full Moon include the Egg Moon, Full Sprouting Grass Moon, and Full Fish Moon. The April Full Moon was the second full moon of Spring and the Full Moon in Scorpio.

May 24: Super Flower Moon

On Tuesday, May 24, the full moon was called the Super Flower Moon, which was both the May Full Moon and a Supermoon in 1994. Other May 1994 Full Moon names include the Corn Planting Moon and Milk Moon.

July 22: Full Buck Moon

August 21: Full Sturgeon Moon

September 19: Full Harvest Moon

The full moon on Monday, September 19, was called the Full Harvest Moon because it was the closest full moon to the Autumnal Equniox in 1994. The September Full Moon was the last full moon of Summer and the Full Moon in Pisces.

October 19: Full Hunter’s Moon

The full moon on Wednesday, October 19, was called the Full Hunter’s Moon. The October Full Moon was the first full moon of Autumn and the Full Moon in Aries.

November 18: Full Beaver Moon

The full moon on Friday, November 18, was called the Full Beaver Moon. Another nickname for the November 1994 Full Moon is the Frosty Moon.

The November Full Moon was the second full moon of Autumn and the Full Moon in Taurus. The lunar eclipse in November 1994 was a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse.

December 17: Full Cold Moon

What are the phases of the moon?

The four primary lunar phases are the new moon, the first quarter, the full moon, and the last quarter.

A new moon is the first lunar phase, which occurs on average about once a month or 29.53 days. The moon itself is not visible, though you may be able to “see” it because it blocks the visibility of the stars behind it.

A full moon occurs when the Earth is directly between the Sun and the Moon, allowing the moon to appear illuminated entirely. It happens about once a month, or 29.53 days on average.

The first quarter moon occurs between the new moon and the full moon, and the last quarter moon occurs after the full moon and before the next new moon.
