Was there a blue moon in 1907?

Yes, there was a seasonal blue moon in 1907 on Friday, August 23, 1907 because Summer had an extra full moon. Summer had 4 full moons making the August 23 full moon a seasonal blue moon.

There are two definitions of blue moons. The most common, and the one you likely know, is when two full moons occur in the same month. The second full moon is typically called a blue moon.

The second definition of a blue moon relates to having an extra full moon during a season. When a season has four full moons, the third full moon of the season is also called a blue moon or a seasonal blue moon to help distinguish between the other definition.

The Full Harvest Moon in 1907 was on Saturday September 21, 1907. The September full moon ninth full moon of 1907 and was the full moon in Pisces. The Full Harvest Moon was the last full moon of Summer in 1907.

Depending on the year, the Harvest Moon may either be part of the Summer or Autumn season. In 1907 it was part of Summer.

What are the phases of the moon?

The four primary lunar phases are the new moon, the first quarter, the full moon, and the last quarter.

A new moon is the first lunar phase, which occurs on average about once a month or 29.53 days. The moon itself is not visible, though you may be able to “see” it because it blocks the visibility of the stars behind it.

A full moon occurs when the Earth is directly between the Sun and the Moon, allowing the moon to appear illuminated entirely. It happens about once a month, or 29.53 days on average.

The first quarter moon occurs between the new moon and the full moon, and the last quarter moon occurs after the full moon and before the next new moon.
